Trump Welcomes Families of Shot National Guard Members to White House
Former President Donald Trump announced on the weekend that he has extended an invitation the family of a Guard member fatally shot last week to come to the presidential home.
He noted that he conversed with her family and they were “heartbroken”.
Information on the Tragic Shooting
Soldier Sarah Beckstrom, twenty years old, was fatally shot in a violent incident on last Wednesday in Washington DC.
Her colleague, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, remains hospitalized in grave state.
Vigils across the state have taken place in their honor.
Presidential Offer
The commander-in-chief stated he’s talked about a meeting at the presidential residence for the loved ones of both members of the West Virginia Guard.
“I told them: ‘When you’re prepared, because that’s a tough thing, arrive at the White House. We’re going to pay tribute to Sarah,” Trump addressed reporters. “And in the same way with him, no matter the outcome.”
Community Support
Attendees assembled over the weekend at a local school in West Virginia to honor Beckstrom.
Both they had been serving with the military unit as part of the president’s national effort to aid public safety in the capital.
Paying Tribute to Beckstrom
“Sarah was the individual that teachers wished for. She behaved with quiet strength, a warm expression and a optimistic attitude that inspired those around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the leader of her alma mater, stated to the media. “She was kind, considerate and always ready to help others.”
Funeral plans for Beckstrom are in the process of planning.
Legal Steps and Government Adjustments
Law enforcement have indicted a twenty-nine-year-old Afghan national with one count of murder and two counts of attempted murder while carrying a weapon.
The incident prompted the government to suspend asylum processing and temporarily stop granting entry permits to holders of Afghan passports.
Status of Wolfe
Wolfe, a native of the city, began his service in 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman High, according to the Associated Press.
He continues to receive treatment and is “battling to survive”, the state’s governor Morrisey mentioned on Fox News Channel’s The Sunday Briefing.
Attorney general Bondi stated on Fox News Sunday that she planned to speak to his relatives.
Memory of Beckstrom
Beckstrom, from Summersville, graduated from her high school in 2023 and began her service not long after, working as a law enforcement officer with excellence, according to the state guard.
“She had a lot of kindness and she absolutely had courage,” the governor told the audience at the memorial. “Though her life ended too soon, she has made an impact that’s going to last forever.”
