Toronto Blue Jays Earn Fall Classic Matchup Against defending champion Dodgers
George Springer was instrumental for the Astros winning the World Series in 2017.
Canada's MLB team reached their initial World Series following 1993 by defeating the Mariners in the seventh game seven of the AL Championship Series.
Behind three runs to one, the star outfielder delivered a three-run home run in the seventh, leading the Toronto squad in MLB to a four games to three victory in the series. They will now face the Los Angeles Dodgers, who are the current crown, in the forthcoming World Series.
"It's incredible for everyone here, our city, our country," commented Springer, a star of the Astros team that claimed the 2017 World Series. "It's truly an amazing experience."
The veteran has now connected for twenty-three post-season home runs, placing him third on the list trailing only Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Jose Altuve (27).
"I can't think of anyone else anywhere that I want up in that spot besides Springer with his post-season brilliance," remarked manager John Schneider.
The Mariners, after leading the early in the series, are still the only MLB franchise yet to make an appearance in a Fall Classic.
Wilson said "certainly that it's going to sting" following his club's elimination at their home ballpark, but applauded their efforts this season.
"This is a unique group. Unfortunately that we finished on the losing end of this one," he added.
The Blue Jays secured the title on each of their earlier trips in the early 90s, and will host the Dodgers in the opener on this Friday.
