The Streaming Platform is Producing a Far Cry TV Show from the Minds of the Alien Series and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

The latest Far Cry instalment that players dived into was Far Cry 6, which starred Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the villain, Antón, and debuted during October 6, 2021. In the game universe, it is known for delighting in action and mayhem with equal glee, all while presenting gripping, ideologically themed narratives. No wonder then that the network’s recent announcement for a Far Cry limited-run show pulled in two producers whose creations have embodied all of those elements.

What to Expect

Based on Ubisoft's successful video game property, the short-run anthology series is set to premiere on Hulu and be produced by FX Productions. The show will also mirror the video games' format by featuring a fresh backdrop and cast of characters in every instalment.

Creative Minds

Rob Mac, creator of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the visionary behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will work as lead producers on the series through their labels, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be joined by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.

We’ve shared excellent collaborations with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a collective six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are overjoyed that they are joining forces for Far Cry,” said Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a statement. “I have no doubt that they will tell this story in a way that is innovative, engrossing, and wildly entertaining. We also want to acknowledge our associates at Ubisoft for placing confidence in us with this beloved property.”

Upcoming Developments

Mac will also feature in the show, but as of now, we are unsure of what character that may be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was not long ago renewed for another season, with FX and Disney signing a new overall deal with the showrunner.

“Being able to collaborate together with Noah Hawley is a fantasy come true,” said Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been exceptionally accommodating, trusting us with one of the most iconic video-game universes ever created. And through it all, my FX partners always encourages me with their ongoing belief and assistance.”

“What I love about the Far Cry game series is that it’s an anthology-style series. Every title is a interpretation of a concept, the same way every run of Fargo is a adaptation on a premise,” explained Hawley. “To develop a big action show that can change from season to season, while always delving into the core of people through this multifaceted and chaotic perspective, is a long-held aspiration. I’m excited to collaborate with Rob and bring our shared bold, ambitious style to the television.”

A release window for when we can expect the new Far Cry show has remains undisclosed. The series will stream on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus internationally.
