The Porcine Pardon: Pig Named Six Seven Spared by Miami-Dade Leader.

Although not quite at the identical stature as granting clemency to festive fowl, but the Miami-Dade County mayor conducted a presidential-style act this week by formally pardoning the life of a swine named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava carried out the annual tradition at the Cuban-style Latin Cafe 2000 in the core of Miami’s Little Havana neighborhood.

“The swine has done no wrong. Clemency is justified for her. She has committed zero crimes,” declared Levine Cava in a speech with clear references to the extraordinary and sizable number of pardons issued since the commencement of a second term in office.

“Unless you count eating half a dozen apples per day,” Levine Cava continued. “I hope she experiences a lengthy and joyful existence free from concern.”

The event, simultaneously observing and challenging the area's customary feast of feasting on pork during the holidays, was created to replicate the annual turkey pardoning at the White House.

The swine, contributed by a local firefighter, was christened after the popular vernacular phrase of young people shouting “six seven” – inspired by a hip-hop line – often for no discernable reason. The trend became so ubiquitous that a prominent word reference recently declared “6-7” its 2025 word of the year.

A Peaceful Retirement

Six Seven the pig is now set to enjoy its days at a countryside refuge “distant from barbecues and spits”, according to the ceremony's official statement.

“The annual pig pardon has become one of our favorite ways to kick off the festive period,” said Eric Castellanos, in a particularly upbeat message.

“It embodies the essence of Miami: vibrant, multicultural, and rooted in traditions that bring people together. Every time, we are delighted to mark heritage and mercy in a way unique to Miami.”

Attendees enjoyed a vegetarian menu of spinach croquetas and Cuban coffee as they celebrated the pig's pardon.
