The British player made it to the third stage in three out of four Grand Slams during the season.

Britain's Emma Raducanu has pulled out of the last two tournaments of the year because of a health issue she has been battling over the past 10 days.

Raducanu, aged 22 had planned to participate in tournaments in Tokyo and Hong Kong but has decided to fly home to rest and recuperate prior to beginning plans for the 2026 season.

Those preparations will include coach Francisco Roig, as they have decided to continue collaborating in 2026.

She required blood pressure checks in her opening round versus Ann Li in Wuhan last week and stopped playing when trailing 6-1 4-1 on a day with extreme humidity.

Another medical visit was necessary medical attention at this week's Ningbo Open, where she fell in a three-set match to local wildcard Zhu Lin in the first round.

Raducanu was also moving far from freely in the deciding set against Zhu because of the lower back problem that has been a concern during parts of the season.

Such performances meant an encouraging season, in which the player advanced into the world's top 30 for the first time since her previous ranking, finished with a trio of defeats.

She held three match points before losing to Pegula in round three in the Beijing tournament last month.

Raducanu won 28 matches during 2025 and advanced to the semis in Washington, but her standout performance was at March's Miami Open.

As Britain's top player made the last eight of this WTA 1000 tournament, defeating eighth seed Emma Navarro en route before losing in three sets to fourth-ranked Pegula.

She was coached by Mark Petchey from the Miami event through Wimbledon, with Francisco Roig stepping in in time for the US Open.

The original arrangement with the ex-coach of Rafael Nadal was until the end of the season but the collaboration persists, with a training block pencilled in in the coming months.

She mentioned that her three-day trial with Roig after Wimbledon was like a "secret mission" as they tried to keep the meeting secret.

She nearly succeeded to overcoming Sabalenka, the world number one at their initial event as a team in Cincinnati in August.

Roig joined her in New York, where she reached the third round before being beaten by Rybakina, champion at Wimbledon in 2022.
