Shocking Recording Captures Instant Officers Are Stabbed in Surprise Attack

The Two Senior Officers Moments Prior to the Aggressor Got Stunned

One senior officer who rushed to the help of a colleague who was ambushed by a blade-wielder was granted the Royal Recognition for Courage.

Sgt Tim Ansell grappled with 27-year-old Jacob Brown after he pressed a blade to the throat of his partner Sgt Marc Foster.

Brown initiated the assault as the officers and their colleague, Police Constable Marcus Wolstencroft, were talking to a motorist following a traffic accident in Whalley Range in July 2023.

Brown attacked with blade the two Sgt Ansell and Sgt Foster prior to PC Wolstencroft stopped him with a stun gun.

"Policeman stabbed," the officer was heard to say over his communication device.

Officer-mounted and vehicle camera footage shared by the agency depicted Brown, wearing in dark clothing with a head covered, approach to Sgt Foster from behind with a blade pointed forward.

He ran into the officer who stumbled and went down to the street, before Sgt Ansell jumped in and struggled to restrain him to the floor despite being multiple times hit with the blade.

PC Wolstencroft Stunned the Attacker, Jacob Brown, with a Electric Weapon

Police Constable Wolstencroft pulled his stun gun and sought a open target, bringing the struggle to an end.

Sgt Ansell can be heard to say: "I need help on my neck here, I got knifed in the throat."

Sgt Ansell sustained two lacerations to his throat and more cuts to his arms and body, while Sgt Foster received cut injuries.

Authorities stated Sergeant Foster employed his hands to stop his colleague's blood loss before paramedics arrived.

The new recognition arrives subsequent to the three officers won departmental Bravery Awards in late 2023 and the prestigious bravery honor from the regional union branch in early 2024.

They additionally received a North West Courage Honor in July 2024.

"The efforts of each policeman ultimately protected themselves and meant no members of the public suffered any wounds."

Brown was given to an indefinite hospital order in April 2024, according to officials.
